My research at NIH focuses on stochastic neural activity that takes the form of scale-free cascades called neuronal avalanches. This emergent organization speaks to a robust and dynamic balance between competing forces in the brain. My plan is to map neuronal avalanche dynamics in the neocortex using 2-photon calcium imaging, electrophysiology, and computational models.
