Hello! My name is Alan and I'm from southern California. I currently live in Boston and am doing my PhD in Bioinformatics, focusing on microbial communities and synthetic ecology. I'm interested in studying emergent behavior in bacterial ecosystems and engineering them for new applications. I'm also deeply curious about the emergence and evolution of languages and societies, and in my spare time enjoy listening to new music and making tasty food.
