Social Networks and Dynamic Analysis

Do conflict events lead to distinct network patterns or motifs? Can we identify conflict constellations before they become conflict supernovae? Conflict early warning research has rarely, if ever, integrated social network theory and conflict events-data. This research will take a hubs and authority approach using real event data to identify interaction patterns between actors just prior to high levels of conflict and cooperation. We will consider the policy implications of the results and outline next steps for future research.
