Joao is doing his PhD in “Dynamics of the Urban Metabolism” at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL). He holds an MSc degree in Complex Systems Modeling and a BSc in Environmental Engineering. He worked as a data scientist at PENSA, Rio de Janeiro’s Big Data office, and co-founded two organizations: DATABASE / RJ - focused on data education and data-based policy dissemination - and Metabolism of Cities - dedicated to research and dissemination of the environmental impact of cities.

I have a BSc in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (UFF-Brazil), with an MSc in Complex Systems Modeling (USP-Brazil). I am now working on my Ph.D. thesis on Dynamics of the Urban Metabolism at EPFL-Switzerland.
