This workshop is in collaboration with the Santa Fe Institute, Microsoft, and Boeing
November 9 – 10, 2016 at the Santa Fe Institute in Santa Fe, NM
This two-day workshop is designed to bring educators, academics and industry together to explore new models of education especially as it relates to online learning and the data analytics. In this workshop we will be addressing four major questions:
Questions:
1. What is the framework of the learning ecosystem? How do we define learning outcomes? How do we best track learning outcomes?
2. What experiments do we see in learning to innovate? What leads to learner success in professional MOOCs? What is the DNA of an effective online learning course?
3. What is the role of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation? Role of social science in MOOC and online learning to increase learner outcomes
4. What are the requirements for good teaching in the real world and online? Do these qualities translate from face-to-face to online teaching?
For the majority of the workshop participants will be breaking into working groups to address these four questions. We will also have a panel on each question.
