Pamela Martinez, University of Chicago – Chicago IL USA

My goal as a scientist is to contribute to the development of new knowledge in ecology and evolution from an interdisciplinary perspective, especially in the area of human health. I am very interested in disease ecology because this field involves the integration of mechanisms at different organizational scales, from those underlying the interactions between parasites and their hosts to those of population dynamics in time and space.

During my PhD at the University of Chicago I have been working under the guidance of Dr. Mercedes Pascual on the interface between the population dynamics of infectious diseases and environmental (climate) variability.
