Complex Systems Summer School 2015

Juan Carlos is a PhD candidate in hydrogeology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). A Water Engineer by training (Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile), he has a Masters degree in Water Resources (UNSW). Juan Carlos worked for six years in the Atacama Desert, dealing with different aspects of groundwater management and the provision of drinking water in one of the driest regions in the world. In 2010, he received an AusAid Leadership Award from the Australian Government. Juan's research involves developing new frameworks in hydrogeological modeling using multi-agent simulation to capture the complexity emerging from the interplay of human decisions, climate variability and groundwater.
