My background includes a 5 year degree on Physics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Master's degree on Biophysics from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. I am currently finishing my Ph.D in Biology at Centre for Molecular Biology 'Severo Ochoa', which belongs to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
My research essentially focuses on the analysis of emergent patterns in evolutionary (complex) systems. I am interested in the epistemological aspects of the concept of emergence itself, in the development of formal methods (either statistical or mechanistic based models) aiming to identify and explain these patterns, and in the exploration of the physical basis underlying the dynamical processes which lead to the observed phenomena.
