I'm a doctoral student (soon: candidate) in Political Science, majoring in international relations (IR). My main interests are international security and conflict; I went back to school specifically because I read a couple papers from SFI-affiliated scholars, and thought, 'Could be interesting to apply to this to IR." Lately I've been looking at power-law results in measurement of war magnitude and frequency, and would like to extend this work to network analysis of conflict and alliance systems. Alas, complexity has not made the inroads in Political Science that is has in other disciplines, so this ends up being a side project from my actual dissertation research; that research looks at the domestic constraints on states' capacity for violence.
