Bhargav Srinivasa Desikan

University of Chicago - USA

Currently a graduate student at the University of Chicago, finishing an MA in Computational Social Science, and doing my research at the Knowledge Lab. I work broadly in two fields - science of science, and ethics/fairness in Machine Learning and AI. I think it is important to think about the social ramifications of AI and technology, and am interested to see how the fields of Sociology and Philosophy interact with Computer Science.

I enjoy contributing to the open source python scientific computing community: conducting workshops at PyCons/PyDatas and contributing to python NLP libraries like Gensim and spaCy. I've published a book on how to do text analysis in Python, authored the python package pycobra, and have published in the Journal of Machine Learning Research.

I also like to boulder and hike, read and write, play on my Nintendo Switch, hang out with my cat, and enjoy art, theatre, music and dancing. :)
