'''Call for submissions: lightning talks'''

To accommodate highly promising research from early career researchers, WOST II solicits contributions for "lightning talks". Lightning talks will consist of a 10-minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute question and answer session. Slots are available for lightning talks on each day of the conference, with topics matching the [[Stochastic_Thermodynamics_II _-_Programme|theme of the day]]. Talks will be recorded and made available online.

Submission is open to all, but priority will be given to more junior researchers, and to work that has been recently published or submitted as a preprint. The form allows you to provide a link to a manuscript, and also requests demographic data to help us support under-represented groups.

Call for submissions: lightning talks

To accommodate highly promising research from early career researchers, WOST II solicits contributions for "lightning talks". These are intended to give students and junior researchers the opportunity to present their high quality work-in-progress and recently published results. We particularly encourage researchers from underrepresented groups, including those in developing countries, to submit their work.

Format: A lightning talk is a 10 minute presentation of work-in-progress followed by a 5 minute question and answer session, focusing specifically on the fast-developing field of stochastic thermodynamics, both its theoretical and experimental aspects, and its application to other fields of research. These will be presented in dedicated sessions during the WOST II online conference.

Submissions: In order to participate, please submit a one-page abstract that describes your work concisely, along with a link to a paper or pre-print of the work using the workshop registration form. We also require you to choose one of the 5 topics of the conference you would prefer to present in. These are “biophysics”, “active matter”, “quantum stochastic thermodynamics”, “information theory” and “physics and chemistry”.

Submit your work using the workshop registration form. The form allows you to provide a link to a manuscript, and also requests demographic data to help us support under-represented groups.

Please be aware that talk abstracts will be posted on the WOST II web page before the conference, and recordings of the presentations will be posted after the conference.

Important dates:
Submission deadline of abstracts: January 31, 2021

Author notification: March 1, 2021

Lightning talk session and Q&A: May 17-May 21, 2021
