Soumya Banerjee
From Santa Fe Institute Events Wiki
I am Soumya Banerjee, a PhD student at the University of New Mexico in the Computer Science program. I use agent based models to study the immune system. I love playing cricket and watching movies. And I am looking forward to meeting everyone!

Dan's questions
My answers:
1. What are your main interests? Feel free to include a "pie in the sky"big idea!
My main research interests are in modeling of immune systems and properties like decentralization and "increasing returns" exhibited by them which assist them in efficient elimination of pathogens. I would like to apply so-called Artificial Immune System (AIS) approaches to problems like decentralization and co-ordination in urban planning and communities and how they efficiently respond to external challenges. Another interest area is in application of agent-based models to economies and/or financial systems. I have also recently become interested in applying esoteric techniques from physics like perturbation theory to gain a more quantitative understanding of immune systems.
2. What sorts of expertise can you bring to the group?
I have extensive experience with agent-based models and can develop programs in any language. I am also conversant in modeling with delay-differential equations.
3. What do you hope to get out of the CSSS?
4. Do you have any possible projects in mind for the CSSS?
