Who Should Take This Course?
Exploring Complexity is an introduction to the sciences of complexity for professionals, faculty, students, or others interested in how the methods and results of this interdisciplinary field can be applied in their own work or studies. Business, government, and non-profit managers, industrial research and development staff, medical, legal, and social work professionals, and university faculty and students in any area of science or social science will find many relevant insights and applications within this provocative new field.
No specific background in mathematics, science, or computation is necessary.
You will be guided, via lectures and interactive demonstrations, through major topics of complex systems science, including dynamics and chaos, networks, biological and technological evolution and scaling, and agent-based computer modeling. Considerable discussion will be focused on real world implementation of these concepts.
