Barcamp Barcelona: good initiative but should improve
Unable to attend the Congress in Bilbao Search, Congress is becoming a reference in Spain, yesterday we were at Barcamp E-Commerce of Barcelona, exclusive event to discuss online stores.
The initiative is excellent as it captures one of the niches of the Internet with greater growth potential as well as ignorance on the part of the site owners.
Taking advantage of the event, we met our friends delaweb.net web design specialists in Alicante, to share opinions about the event.
I have to admit that if payment as other conferences of this type would put them far worse, but still free few complaints can be made, but I hope that my comments were taken as a point of improvement. Learn more here Game Changer DNA
E-Commerce workshops Location:
The site chosen was quite correct, although I must say one of the rooms had no microphone so the cost of the speakers comments heard. At least that my mates told me.
Workshops / E-Commerce Focuses on
The topics chosen were very appropriate and the only "but" would be that performed at the same time and will cost you to choose one as the titles were very bright and did not know which to choose.
Theme I attended:
First workshop: Importance of Analytics and Control ROI.
Excellent presentation by Jaume Clotet and Enric Quintero. Good dynamic presentation on Analytics (Google Analytics focused especially being free) and control of ROI by engaging the audience with a good introduction to the subject but very little time for anything that could comment.
Good advice for the attendees to evolve with web analytics: Install 1 applied, learn to value, measure, and as you learn and valuing the importance of analytical, testing with other applications.
Possibly at some points entertained too. But really good. Advised to follow if they twitter, blog or similar.
At the same time other interesting workshops began as "What technology and to stores?" And "Legal aspects of business online: e-commerce and data protection." Both had a suggestive title.
Second workshop: search engine marketing strategy for online stores
This second workshop did not quite like it. He gave me the feeling that the audience had little knowledge and questions to the speakers were directed to "what is the difference between SEO and SEM? or like "Is it better to include language on a site, a subdirectory, directory, etc ...? As a curious note, the speakers answered some questions without answers and refine enough Carlos Blanco then appeared to "give a hint." From that moment, I think the tension increased and could damage components in the dynamics of the workshop. But we must recognize the need to put what was commenting on was not quite true.
I got bored really pretty here, but I think also the fault was partly mine and did not participate in almost anything, because to increase the level it had been doing his tough questions. Some speakers saw them insecure in their responses, some not, and Google took almost nothing I will not name because, as he always does, came to sell advertising on Google with these winds that characterize him. I've been in several Congresses and has always appeared a figure of Google or is it to put flowers or is to sell services.
Gerard highlight the participation of Gaul very correct in all its interventions.
At the same time other shops began: "The best channels to get customers" and "Best practice in logit online stores." Especially the first one looked good, though I could not attend.
Workshop III: Status and evolution of E-Commerce in Spain.
Good summary by the speaker Carlos Blanco and 2 other people I did not know who they were (when the paper I had begun).
Breakdown of all matters relating to a store, not just talking about issues of the Internet but only as important as other technical equipment, logistics, etc ...
I took very good impression of the 3 speakers because they seemed very transparent and clear in their responses, without wandering into any of them. It was clear they knew what they were talking and did not have any fear of public speaking.
At the same time began: "Web 2.0 Eshop: communicate, build community, encourage and .... sell "and" Online payment: problems and new solutions. "
Fourth Workshop: buying guides or get qualified traffic to online stores.
The worst of it was. I do not bring anything. I already knew the guidelines for the purchase or price comparisons and I have a completely different idea of what they sell. Although not involved in any time pudiendolo do, I went to answer emails with the laptop and review some aspects of work.
My theory on the price comparison is that, if we have a strong SEO strategy, we are well positioned for our products (longtail strategy) and we are struggling against competition, my theory is that if you publish your content on a price comparison, is takes over your content and it also positions for your products, so it becomes your competition. For stores that do not have a strong presence and SEO strategy, a price comparison is ideal for getting traffic. But that's my theory.
At the same time: "Emailing marketing or acquire and retain customers to sell more" and "Increase conversion through personalization, recommendation, automatic merchandising."
Conclusions:
I think it's an excellent INITIATIVE, that level may be a bit low for what I would have liked, though I will not blame them because I participated recently in the issues.
Possibly, the upcoming presentations should determine levels, to deliver better and dynamics more in line with the knowledge of each.
