Thanks a lot for the Summer School of SFI!
Thanks a lot for the Summer School of SFI!
1. What topics do you have some expertise in and would you be willing to help others learn them?
I am doing research about organizations evolving. I have investigated four Chinese Top 100 firms for one year. Now I use Multi-agent System and System Dynamics to establish the evolving model.I can help others who are interested in organization research use CAS(complex adaptive system) to establish the model. It is very interesting to find the agents and simple rules make the organization evolve in different way. The research is helpful to Chinese firms development and the policy maker in transforming era.
2. What do you want to learn at the CSSS?
I want to learn the swarm modeling. and the difference between netlogo and swarm..Also computer simulation way may be difficult in management research. Some professors told me that though computer simulation is a good way , it is more about theory or logic deduction. And empirical study is used more widely than simulation study. I want to learn how to combine case study , quantitive study and simulation study.
3. Do you have any projects or research interests that would benefit from an interdisciplinary approach?
Organization evolving is about management, economics, biology etc.
4. Do you have any ideas for what sort of project you would like to do this summer?
Organization evolving is my project. One month ago, Prof.  Michael D. Cohen came to our school and gave us a lecture about his research complex adaptive system in organization research. His lecture gave me much more interest in organization evolving. I will use do this research as my Phd thesis.
5. Suppose you could travel one-hundred years in the future and ask researchers any three questions.  What would those questions be?
The questions:
1) What is the paradigm of your research?
2) What is the research method?
3) Why are your conclusions different from other organization researchers in the past?
