Hi all !!

I have a BSc and MSc on Biology from the [Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá,] and currently am a research assistant in the molecular, theoretical and evolutionary biology Group, at that university. My research interest has dealt with the interface of ontogeny and evolutionary biology, information theory, semiotics, thermodynamics and computation, and recently with the individual base modeling and ecology.

I am interested in studying 1) organisms (in particular) and biological systems (in general) as information gathering, processing and using systems (IGUS), 2) the processes of encoding heritable information: digital (genetic) or analog (proteins, phenotypes), 3) how biological - IGUS use information to obtain energy to do a specific work and how they create hierarchical structures with meaning.

The use of information in a computing-like process for energy extraction imposes constraints over biological IGUS dynamics accomplished during ontogeny. Of great interest to me is how informative and thermodynamic constraints imposed over IGUS ontogeny could drive the evolutionary pathways of these systems.
