"New Perspectives on Risk", co-sponsored by Credit Suisse and SFI will take place Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Credit Suisse, EMA-2B Auditorium, 11 Madison Avenue, New York, NY.

"New Perspectives on Risk" brings together academics and practitioners to dissect risk from political, economic and financial perspectives. Building from deep knowledge of economic history and macro forces which shape the competitive landscape of financial and other systems, the meeting will explore how organizations and individuals understand and approach risk. The seemingly esoteric connections between fat-tailed phenomenon and the intrinsic link between investing and gambling. Each speaker discusses approaches mitigate, or at least better understand the factors which drive uncertainty.

This one-day meeting provides a birds-eye view of approach of Santa Fe Institute science: bring together great minds thinking about a topic from different perspectives and identify key insights into the theoretical foundations of phenomena. Each speaker presents unique and provocative perspective on risk.
