I am a Ph. D. student at the department of Energy and Environment at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. My research focus is on energy systems, land use and land-use competition and connections between markets at different scales. I want to find out how these things affect carbon balances and put pressure on natural ecosystems as well as poverty alleviation and development.

In my current research I am part of a team developing a land module for the global energy transition model GET—initially developed by Azar and Lindgren in 2000—with which we want to link the agricultural system to the energy system. By connecting an economic model of the energy system with response functions for agricultural yields and land, we hope to better understand what types of implications different policies may have.

In parallel with the development of this relatively large model, we are also developing a much simpler model. This latter model is developed to be more transparent and aid a more intuitive understanding of interconnections in the multi dimensional energy-agriculture-economic space. Another purpose is to see which important dynamics that can be visualized with a simple model.

Before I commenced my Ph. D. studies, I did an internship at the United Nation’s Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO). At FAO I was part of a small group putting together a document for decision makers in developing countries who need guidance in how to make informed decisions regarding bioenergy projects.

I have a Civil Engineering degree in Physics, and a Master of Science in Industrial Ecology, both from Chalmers University of Technology.
