Katarzyna Samson
From Santa Fe Institute Events Wiki
My name is Kasia Samson, I am a 2nd year PhD student in psychology at the University of Warsaw, Poland. I work at the Center for Complex Systems Research at the Institute for Social Studies, also at the University of Warsaw, under the supervision of my advisor, professor Andrzej Nowak.
Aside from being a social psychologist, I am also a rock climber, a beginner acrobat, and a fixed-gear biker. I hope that the crazy new mexican summer heat won't stop us from organizing some weekend climbing trips, I noticed there might be quite a bunch of people interested!

What are your main interests? Feel free to include a "pie in the sky" big idea!
My research interests focus on applying complexity tools to social science. In my thesis I analyze the dynamics of intergroup conflict, but I am also interested in the emergence of collective quality representations, dimensions of social relations in MMO games environment and the role of extremely rare events.
What sort of expertise can you bring to the group?
* a solid social scientific background * stats * and a "impossible is nothing" attitude ;)
What do you hope to get out of the CSSS?
A lot of theoretical knowledge on really exciting and sometimes abstract topics, some practical programming/data-analyzing/modeling tools to apply in my research, and a great interdisciplinary collaboration experience.
Do you have any possible projects in mind for the CSSS?
