There are several goals for this workshop:

  1. Plant seeds for interdisciplinary and/or international research collaboration in complex social networks and urban dynamics
  2. Help participants gain a greater understanding of important questions, research methodologies, and research opportunities.
  3. Help participants gain a greater understanding of funding agencies and strategies for successful grant writing.

To meet these goals there are several components to this workshop:

  1. Lectures and tutorials on current research topics and methods.
  2. Roundtables and discussions
  3. All student participants will prepare a short research proposal presenting some ideas for future, collaborative research. This will include:
    1. A sort (20 minute) presentation at the end of the workshop
    2. A two-four page written proposal
