Elham Kashefi received her BSc. and MSc. in Mathematics (Major in Combinatorics) from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. In 1999 she joined Imperial College of London as a research assistant at the Formal Methods group. In 2000 she joined CQC Oxford to start her PhD. under the supervision of Vlatko Vedral and graduated from department of computing, Imperial College in 2003. Her thesis was on complexity analysis and semantics for quantum computing. She was then awarded a Junior Research Fellowship by Christ Church College, University of Oxford. Currently she is a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada.
