Hi! I am from Uruguay but now I am studying at Chile in the Pontificia Universidad Católica. This is my third year in the doctoral program and I am starting my thesis project entitled “Spatial pattern formation and its effect on biodiversity” (Formación de patrones espaciales y su efecto sobre la biodiversidad). The main objectives of this project are to determine the key mechanisms of spatial pattern formation in an arid ecosystem in North of Chile (Atacama Desert) and then evaluate the consequences of this spatial pattern on biodiversity, from genes to food webs. In particular, for the first part of my doctoral project I will develop a model based on Turing ideas of reaction-diffusion in chemical systems to describe the spatial pattern formation observed in the field.

I hope we will share knowledge and experiences with other participants of diverse disciplines, and meet some of the most reputed scientists in the area of Complex Systems research.
