Christa is a first-year Ph.D. student at Arizona State Universities new School of Sustainability. SOS is an experiment in interdisciplinary graduate education, seeking to bring together multiple disciplines in order to create practical solutions to the worlds most pressing environmental, economic, and social problems. Christa's research will focus on the effects of climate change on agricultural risk levels in the developing world.


She recently finished the Climate and Society masters degree at Columbia University, and has a BS in civil engineering, also from Columbia.


Born and raised in rural Alaska, Christa has now lived in the most extreme temperature and city sizes that can be found in the US. In her spare time, Christa rock climbs and is beginning to take up biking.
