Hi, I am Hongtao Yi, a PhD student in Center for Sustainable Energy & Governance (CSEG)of Florida State University. I am currently involved in the various projects related to local energy and sustainability policies in CSEG. In my research, I am particularly interested in investigating the driving forces for the local governments' adoption of sustainable and climate policies, the mechanisms that local energy and environmental policy networks affect the local sustainable policy adoptions, and the relationships between the demand side and supply side policy instruments for renewable energy.

For the local policy adoptions studies, my colleagues and I tried to explain the local climate protection actions in Florida and the U.S. cities by various political economic variables. By collecting a longitudinal data set, we found that local political institutions matter in the adoption of local climate/energy policies.

My research agenda in the next step is to investigate the local energy policy network and how it affects the effectiveness of the sustainable policies in the local level. The complex systems approach would help me develop a powerful methodological tool to deal with the research problems.
