LODGING AND MEALS:

You will be provided with housing and meals for the duration of the program. You will be housed in a dormitory at Groton School, 282 Farmers Row, P.O. Box 991, Groton, Massachusetts 01450. Telephone: (978) 448-7510. Visit the Groton School Website to view the campus.

Please plan to arrive no later than 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 9 and to depart on Saturday, July 23rd. Please note that housing is not available before or after these dates.

SCHEDULE:

Most days will begin with breakfast at 8:00am, followed by a field activity, collecting data to be used in the modeling program. Participants will then move into the classroom where they will explore different approaches to the study of complexity, bringing agent-based modeling and other techniques into play. A long lunch will then be followed by another two to three hours of ecological study and computer modeling. Weather permitting, there will then be some time for swimming in the pool, playing Frisbee on the fields or quietly reading in the shade. We will gather for dinner at about 6:00pm, and the evenings will be spent quietly working on projects in the dormitory or classroom, watching TV, reading, or talking about mathematics, college and life with our Resident Advisors and staff.

The routine will be broken by short excursions to nearby conservation areas, the occasional morning to sleep in and a trip to the movies to escape the calm of the campus.
