"New Perspectives on Risk" brings together academics and practitioners to dissect risk from political, economic and financial perspectives. Building from an overview of economic history and the macro forces that shape the competitive landscape of financial and other complex systems, the meeting will explore how organizations and individuals understand and approach risk and uncertainty. Seemingly esoteric connections between identifying and predicting fat-tailed phenomenon and the intrinsic link between investing and gambling will be discussed. Each speaker shares their perspective on mitigating, or at least better understanding the factors that drive uncertainty.
