Lynette Shaw is a Fellow with the Michigan Society of Fellows at the University of Michigan’s Center for Study of Complex Systems. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Washington. One of her lines of research focuses on the dynamics of valuation and definition around new digital currencies such as Bitcoin. Another is devoted to formally modeling and experimentally validating the emergence of cultural dynamics from individuals’ implicit cognition.
