The Contact The history of the contact lens dates back to the early sixteenth century. More specifically, in 1508 Leonardo da Vinci came up with the general principle behind contact lenses. While he didn't actually create such a lens and wasn't necessarily concerned with correcting vision, da Vinci sketched and described a variety of ideas involving placing a lens directly on the eye in order to aid vision and alter the corneal power of the eye.
The Contact Most supermarkets and convenience stores hold contact lens solution in the section for over the counter medications. There might be several brands of contact lens solution to choose from. Opti Free or store brand? No rub or regular? Taking care of your contact lenses is crucial. If bacteria is allowed to manifest on them, you risk eye infections and possibly even blindness. For your health and comfort, know the differences between the different types of contact lens solution to keep your eyes in perfect health. For most everyday contact lens users, a single multipurpose contact solution and a case is all that will be necessary to keep contact lenses clean. A multipurpose solution is a combination of a disinfecting and cleaning solution. You will have to use a multipurpose cleaning solution by taking your contacts out, one at a time. and squirting it with your multipurpose solution. Gently rub the contact in the palm of your hand with the tip of your finger. Swipe it gently in straight lines, not in a circle, to avoid tears to delicate soft lenses. If your multipurpose solution says that it is "no rub," you can skip this step, but it would not hurt if extra debris is visible. Rinse the contact in the solution and store it in the appropriate side of the case. Be sure not to get your contacts mixed up.
Many believe the contact lens is a relatively new invention and was conceived in this century due to technology and innovation. While the contacts of today were developed not so long ago, its inception and inspiration began many centuries ago. This probably comes as quite a shock to many; however the idea of contact lenses began with Leonardo da Vinci. In the 16th century Leonardo da Vinci made sketches of a variety of possibilities and included descriptions of them. Then, more than 100 years later Rene Descartes developed the idea of a corneal lens that would correct visual problems. Thomas Young used Descartes idea 170 years later and developed what has been considered the first lens. However, it would be in 1887 that a German glassblower would develop a contact lens that was designed to be worn and accepted by the eye. After this, the whole world began the quest to develop and improve the designs.
Extensive buying of contact lenses is heating up the overall commercial activity and more so if we consider buying lenses online. But just because the contact lenses are bought and sold at such a fiery pace doesn't indicate that the contact lens technology is an all-inclusive technology. Nothing in the world is perfect and contact lenses are no exception to this universal rule. So if we say that contacts are products meant for anybody and everybody, we would be seriously flawed. The contact lenses, although a wiser choice over eyeglasses, have a few usage drawbacks. Not Meant for Weak and Sensitive Eyes There are at least two out of every twenty people whose eyes are extra sensitive to contact lenses and solutions. Even though there is a choice of much healthy soft lenses, the eyes maybe too weak to take their stress and strain. There are many who have naturally weak eyes, which cannot take the burden of wearing the soft contact lenses through out the day. So buying soft contacts is out of the question for these sort of unfortunates, let alone the hard lenses.
If you are new to contact lenses, there are two things that you will need to learn - putting your contacts in and taking them out. Even if you may have got in some practice with your optician during your fitting exam, you will find things to be totally different once you step in front of your mirror at home and try to do it by yourself. The first thing you will become aware of is that it can be difficult to put your contacts in. If you are putting them in for the first time, it can be a little tricky getting them in your eye. With a few days or a few weeks to practice, you'll be more than comfortable with your lenses.
