About
I am a third year PhD student in the Computer Science Department at Dartmouth College. I received my undergraduate degree from Tufts University in computer science and math.
What are your main interests?
Currently my work is all over the place, but broadly speaking, I am interested in applying machine learning and statistical methods to the study of large and complex systems. Specifically the areas of economics/finance, text analysis (i.e. news, blogs, books, etc.) and social network analysis capture my interest.
What sort of expertise can you bring to the group?
I have a good understanding of machine learning and statistical methods, and my mathematical background is pretty diverse.
I am proficient at programming in numerous languages: C/C++, Java, Python, Matlab and R
I have some experience collecting and processing large data sets from the web.
What do you hope to get out of the CSSS?
I hope to learn new ways to approach thinking about complex systems, meet interesting people to collaborate with. I think the experience will allow me to view my current research with new perspective.
