I'm an assistant professor of [http://www-ce.ccny.cuny.edu/ civil engineering] at the [http://www1.ccny.cuny.edu/ City College of New York] and am also associated with the NOAA Cooperative Remote Sensing Science and Technology [http://crest.ccny.cuny.edu/ Center]. I study the interaction between climate, water supply and agriculture. I'm especially interested in the climate and land-use aspects of sustainable agriculture, in putting sustainability on the engineering curriculum, and in community gardens, green roofs, and other measures to ameliorate cities' physical, economic, and social climate. I studied at the [http://www.umich.edu/ University of Michigan] as an undergraduate and have a Ph.D. degree in geochemistry from [http://www.caltech.edu/ Caltech], where my dissertation work focused on using tree rings and carbon isotope measurements to quantify carbon sinks in forests and in the oceans. This will be my first time in New Mexico, and I look forward to climbing in the southern Rockies.
